Natalie Cole, a former crack addict herself, claims that giving Amy Winehouse awards right now is sending a "bad message".
"I don't think she should have won. I think it sends a bad message to our young people who are trying to get into this business, the ones who are trying to do it right and really trying to keep themselves together," said Cole, 58. "We have to stop rewarding bad behavior."
Of Winehouse, 24, who is currently in rehab in England, Cole says: "I'm sorry. I think the girl is talented, gifted, but it's not right for her to be able to have her cake and eat it too. She needs to get herself together."
When asked who she thought deserved the Grammy nod she replied "Rihanna, even Beyoncé. I just feel like they're ready to go the long haul. You can tell how hard they work, they're great people, their heart is in the right place. These are the people we should be praising, these are the people we should be encouraging."
I don't really agree with putting crackheads on pedestal myself but when it comes down to it she made an amazing record and people responded. That's what the award show is celebrating.
Nat's probably just mad because Amy wouldn't give her a hit.

she needs to shut the hole! it is my understanding that amy finally checked in to rehab because the industry, her record label and the grammy's itself wouldn't accept her behaviour. so if anything it is sending the message to new-comers that you can't be doing that shite....and would it kill her to throw in a white person who deserved a grammy nod?? i can understand saying rhianna, but beyonce?!
That is shite..Amy didn't win anything for being a junkie but for her music..I don't think that she worked less then everyone else becasue she has a problem....
