Harry's Going Home

One of the stupidest things the press has ever done has caused Prince Harry's time in Afghanistan to be cut short.
The Ministry of Defense:
"Following a detailed assessment of the risks by the operational chain of command, the decision has been taken ... to withdraw Prince Harry from Afghanistan immediately. This decision has been taken primarily on the basis that the worldwide media coverage of Prince Harry in Afghanistan could impact on the security of those who are deployed there, as well as the risks to him as an individual soldier."
He was meant to stay in Afghanistan until April.
In a way it's great because brings another soldier out of harms way but this was obviously very important to him. He's said "[I] finally get the chance to actually do the soldiering I wanted to do from ever since I joined." Harry also added said his mother would have been proud of him.

Maybe they'll just move him somewhere else - didn't they originally say that he wasn't going at all for the same reasons - if he really wants to be there they'll find a way.

I have to disagree with you Melissa. It's not so much about his safety but more about those around him. Once word gets out that he is still around there they would shift thier focus to finding him and having him killed just because they know the effect it would have. His mother would be proud and I have always kinda liked him better than the other due anyway.....Seems a little less ENGLISH! Good for him for going and not expecting or accepting special treatment.

I don't think his mother would be happy at all - Bosnia and Afghanistan were the two places that Diana advocated against in terms of volence and land mines - I couldn't see her happy that her son is there and in danger and causing danger to others.
